The ’Window of Shanghai’ is a book donation program initiated in 2002 by Shanghai Library as an integral part of the‘China Book International’ Project (CBI). It aims to introduce the Chinese culture and to promote the Chinese civilization by providing the overseas readers with more latest Chinese publications. As of the end of 2011, the project has donated more than 40,000 books to 77 participating institutions, including public libraries, university libraries, school libraries, information centers, research institutes and so on, in 48 countries and regions all over the world.

Feedbacks coming from the participating libraries reveal that the donations of ‘Window of Shanghai’ have helped strengthen the bonds...
